Why Hire U of T Health Studies Graduates?

The U of T Health Studies program offers a unique examination of the social, biological, medical, political, economic, and ethical aspects of health. Students in this program learn by using a multidisciplinary approach to examine numerous factors that have an impact on the health of individuals and communities in Canada and globally.

In small, highly interactive classes, students explore the determining factors of health and forces that drive health care policy. In order to accommodate the particular interests of the students while maintaining standard academic core of courses, each student is involved in tailoring the program to his or her needs.

A Strong Focus on Research

An important component of the program is centred on learning the basis and methods of performing research. Students in the specialist stream complete a research project, which usually takes two years and culminates in an undergraduate research thesis. The research projects are conducted locally and, for some students, also have an international component.

Health Studies Co-op Program

Exceptional students, specially selected through stringent admission criteria, participate in the U of T Scarborough co-op program in Health Studies. Two 4-month paid work terms alternate with study terms, providing a strong grounding in practical work experience in health and health-related private, research, and public institutions.
