Why Hire U of T Arts and Science Graduates?
The Faculty of Arts and Science is a vibrant, intellectual powerhouse of students and scholars who are committed to excellence, discovery, and diversity.
Since its founding in 1843, the Faculty of Arts and Science has evolved into one of the largest and most comprehensive and diverse faculties in North America. It is home to 800 of the world’s top scholars who teach more than 2,000 courses arranged in 300 undergraduate and 76 graduate programs, across three Toronto campuses.
As part of Canada’s premier research-intensive university, students learn from those who are world leaders in their field. They have access to extraordinary intellectual resources, and leading-edge facilities, including one of the best libraries in North America. They choose from an unparalleled range of academic options across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
Graduates are prepared to think both imaginatively and critically, to work collaboratively, to undertake a variety of forms of research, and to write, speak, and employ multimedia technology in order to communicate persuasively.
Research Opportunities Program
This innovative program provides an opportunity for second-year students to work in a research project with some of the university’s most renowned professors in return for course credit. The program is completely voluntary and enhances the fundamental connection between teaching and research in a research-intensive university. Students choose from more than 150 research projects across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
Through this program, students early in their academic careers have an opportunity to become involved in original research. They can expect to learn research methods and share in the excitement and discovery of acquiring new knowledge while earning course credit toward their degree and program requirements.

Professional Experience Year (PEY) Internship
The Professional Experience Year program offers employers the opportunity to recruit arts and science students, most often from commerce and computer science disciplines, for 12- to 16-month paid internships that start between May and September each year.
